October 27, 2026
A multi-agency operation in the Florida Keys led to the arrest of more than a dozen individuals on charges related to human trafficking, child exploitation, prostitution, and related offenses.
Details about Medve’s accusations were not immediately available, and the probable cause affidavit has not been released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Kenneth Jay Medve, a 75-year-old Fairfield, Connecticut man, was arrested in Key West on three counts of soliciting a minor for sexual acts and one count of using a two-way device to facilitate a felony, and is being held without bond.
Medve’s arrest is part of a larger, ongoing investigation by a task force led by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, with participation from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the FBI, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and Navy and Coast Guard investigators.
Two other notable arrests include: Timothy William Turso, 47, of Key West, charged with using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity, using a two-way device to facilitate a felony, cocaine possession, and possessing drug paraphernalia, held on a $311,000 bond; and DeWayne Steven Smith, 41, of Copeland, charged with using a computer to seduce/lure a child, traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity, and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony, held on a $460,000 bond.
Most of the 16 people swept up in the operation face charges such as soliciting prostitution, committing prostitution, or operating as an unlicensed health professional; two additional men faced more serious charges involving children.
Attorney information for all three men mentioned was not available at the time of reporting.
