Apple's 2027 Software Update Revolutionizes Podcasts, Maps, and More with Cutting-Edge Features
June 10, 2026
Apple plans a fall expansion of video podcast features across macOS and tvOS as part of its 2027 software releases, aiming to improve how podcasts are consumed on these platforms.
A broad set of updates across Maps, Find My, Apple Pay, Podcasts, iCloud, Music, Sports, and Fitness+ will be rolled out with the 2027 fall software releases.
Note that some regions or features may not be available yet, such as Tap to Share not being in the EEA.
Maps will gain an enhanced Flyover with AI upscaling for higher-definition 3D views and a Local Lists feature showing locally trending places, initially limited to US users with privacy-conscious curation.
iCloud Shared Albums will be revamped for full-resolution sharing, broader file support, emoji reactions, updated activity feeds, and temporary collaborative albums, with non-Apple users able to contribute via the web.
Find My will add custom duration location sharing and a new unified Find My app on Apple Watch, merging Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People with a map-centric interface and Precision Finding for compatible devices.
Apple Pay will introduce a redesigned checkout with easier option comparison, rewards viewing, and pay-later access, plus a Fund-to-card top-up; Tap to Share will enable secure sharing of contact/shipping details and live basket view, requiring iPhone 12+ and iOS 27, not yet in the EEA.
A new Apple Sports app will aggregate global sports events with real-time updates and be available free in over 170 countries.
Availability is currently via Apple Developer Program testing, with a public beta next month and a full fall rollout, noting regional and device variation.
Eddy Cue emphasizes these updates bring powerful features and intelligence across Apple’s services to enhance usefulness and enjoyment for hundreds of millions of users.
Apple Music expands Lyrics Translation to seven new language pairings and Lyrics Pronunciation to five, with AutoMix improvements and Hi-Res Lossless Audio on tvOS for compatible setups.
Apple Fitness+ introduces a three-week Strong Through Menopause program featuring Yoga and Strength workouts, complementing Cycle Tracking features in iOS 27.
