Apple is preparing six major product categories, including AI-enabled AirPods, smart glasses, a pendant focused on AI, a smart display, a tabletop robot, and a security camera.

The pendant and smart glasses have been discussed before, and the smart display has been lined up as a long-rumored addition for about a year.

Tim Cook will depart after 15 years at the helm, with John Ternus, Apple’s hardware chief, expected to assume leadership in September to drive these initiatives.

Bloomberg Apple insider Mark Gurman says six new product categories are in development to launch under John Ternus’s leadership beginning after Cook steps down this fall.

Launch timing varies: smart glasses and possibly the smart display could arrive in 2026, the security camera later in 2026, the tabletop robot perhaps in 2027 (with a chance of slipping to 2028), and some launches may extend into 2027 or beyond.

The AI AirPods are viewed as an upgrade within an existing line rather than a wholly new category, while the other five items are clear new categories.
