Notta Launches 'Bot-Free Mode' for Seamless, Private Meeting Transcriptions on Mac and Windows
April 15, 2026
Bot-Free mode detects when a meeting starts and prompts a one-click transcription start, enabling seamless, proactive recording without any manual setup during the session.
Bot-Free mode captures audio directly from the operating system, recording microphone input and system audio simultaneously through native OS APIs for an instant start with no visible bot presence in the meeting.
The audio is dual-channel, separating microphone input from system audio to improve speaker identification and transcription accuracy, with preprocessing via WebRTC’s echo cancellation and noise suppression.
On macOS, it uses Apple’s ProcessTap API for system audio on macOS 14.4 and later (and ScreenCaptureKit on earlier versions); on Windows, it uses WASAPI Loopback for system audio without extra permissions.
Advantages include speed, broad cross-platform compatibility with major meeting apps, and enhanced privacy since audio is transmitted directly from the device to Notta’s transcription service over encrypted connections without a third-party bot server.
Notta positions Bot-Free as a frictionless upgrade that reduces adoption barriers by removing the visible bot presence while delivering accurate, private transcription.
The feature supports uninterrupted meetings, allowing participants to stay focused while transcription runs in the background, marking a shift from bot-based to OS-level recording.
Notta has launched Bot-Free mode for Notta Desktop on Mac and Windows to record and transcribe meetings without a bot joining the call.
