Nigeria aims to elevate artificial intelligence from pilot projects to a national utility through the Nigeria AI Scaling Hub (AISH), anchored at Lagos Business School to spur AI across agriculture, education, healthcare, and government services.

The AISH will function as an ecosystem engine, coordinating supply from tech innovators, demand from industry leaders, and policy from regulators, with ethical oversight and transparent governance aligned to local and global standards.

The initiative is authored by Prof. Olayinka David-West, Dean of Lagos Business School, signaling strong academic leadership behind the effort.

Partnerships with Data Science Nigeria and access to datasets like African Voices will ensure AI relevance to Nigerian contexts and languages.

Lagos Business School will provide governance and ethical oversight, serving as a bridge between academia and industry, making deployments auditable and trustworthy, and supporting the AI Collective’s training of future AI-literate leaders.

AISH will build foundational digital public infrastructure alongside AI, including national data rails such as soil registries and federated health data exchanges to reduce innovation costs and accelerate time-to-market for AgTech, EdTech, and HealthTech startups.

The initiative aims to secure technological sovereignty by hosting local compute resources and indigenous datasets, ensuring AI models understand Nigerian languages and nuances and serve national development goals.
