Purdue University launches a comprehensive quantum degrees program led by the College of Engineering and College of Science to advance education in quantum computing from theory to practical applications.

The initiative emphasizes strategic collaborations with industry and government to propel real-world quantum advances and build a scalable quantum workforce.

Multiple entry points are offered, including certificates, minors, professional master's programs, and PhD concentrations to broaden quantum literacy and capability at scale.

The program aims to create a robust workforce pipeline to support hundreds of thousands of quantum technology jobs expected in the Midwest over the coming decade.

Purdue will host quantum seminars, workshops, and summer schools, with study abroad, internships, and co-ops for participating students.

Undergraduates can pursue the joint Quantum Information Science and Technology certificate, a Quantum Technology concentration for Electrical Engineering, and a Quantum Science minor coordinated by Physics and Astronomy.

The initiative aligns with broader Purdue quantum efforts, including the Roberts Impact Lab at Purdue University Northwest and leadership from Michael Manfra, chief quantum officer and director of the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute.

Graduate offerings include a Master’s concentration/professional Master’s in quantum, an Online Master of Science in quantum, a MicroMasters in quantum technology, and PhD concentrations in quantum interdisciplinary studies and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
