OpenAI has launched a dedicated macOS client for Codex, positioned as a centralized command center to manage multiple developer agents across the full software lifecycle.

Codex for Mac serves all plans from Plus to Enterprise, doubling rate limits for a limited time and offering temporary free access for Free and Go subscribers.

Usage of Codex has more than doubled since the mid-December 2025 update, with over a million developers now using it across startups, indie teams, and large enterprises.

The Mac app integrates with cloud hosts such as Cloudflare, Netlify, Render, and Vercel, and includes features like GPT Image for image generation, Figma design fetch, and built-in task automation for scheduling repetitive work.

OpenAI positions Codex as a scalable collaboration and supervision tool that improves on traditional IDEs and terminal tools by enabling direct management and coordination of teams of agents.
